Bristol Myers joins Bain Capital to form company for autoimmune drugs
Bristol Myers Squibb Co., a global pharmaceutical company, announced that it has teamed up with private investment firm Bain Capital, LP, to create a new biotech company focused on autoimmune disease treatments.
The new company, called NewCo, launches with five drug candidates licensed from Bristol Myers and a $300 million investment led by Bain. Its pipeline includes three drugs already in clinical trials and two ready to begin Phase 1.
Bristol Myers will keep a nearly 20% stake and may earn royalties and milestone payments tied to the success of the drugs.
