Viking Therapeutics Rated New Buy at Jefferies on Obesity Drug

(Bloomberg) -- Viking Therapeutics was initiated with a buy
rating at Jefferies, with analysts citing recent strong data in
a trial of its obesity-drug. The analysts model about $12
billion in peak-adjusted sales for the VK2735 drug for obesity.
* Analysts including Roger Song say that the data showed a
better outcome than peer Eli Lilly’s tirzepatide drug
** Also notes “palpable strategic interest in the metabolic
space from big pharma”
** PT set to $110, implies a 21% increase from last price
* NOTE: Viking has surged 137% since Feb. 27, when the
biotechnology published phase 2 results of its VK2735 obesity
drug
* NOTE: Shares have 11 buys, 0 holds, 0 sells according to data
tracked by Bloomberg
