Microelectronics US 2026 is a wrap! 🤩 What an incredible few days in Austin.
The conversations on the floor were electric and the response to everything we brought was something else 🔥
Here is what we showcased:

This is really cool & could change assumptions about #6G #ISAC sensing.
An Australian company called BrainChip is proposing using low-power #neuromorphic processors in radar systems to help classify different sensed objects. So for instance, distinguishing a drone vs. a bird from its Doppler signals.
Applied to future 6G sensing, that could:
- make RF integrated wireless infrastructure sensing more practically useful
- but also undermine the arguments about needing #GPUs and MEC-style #edgecomputing for analytics
- and reduce the need for “raw” uplink data volumes, by pre-processing on the radio
It leads to an interesting question - is #AIRAN too focused on the types of compute needed for normal wireless comms? Will it need a much more diverse processor / architectural vision for the full range of future edge functions?

I’m honored to share that I’ve been selected as a recipient of the 2026–2027 Ohio Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) STEM Scholarship, funded by NASA.
This opportunity builds on my previous work as an OSGC/NASA intern, where I developed a neuromorphic event-based vision and fuzzy Spiking Neural Network (SNN) model for velocity estimation in Mars-class rotorcraft. That research was presented at the IEEE/AIAA Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC 2024).
This work was also recently featured in Dayton Magazine as part of a broader effort advancing neuromorphic AI for space systems:

For this next phase, I will continue my research under Dr. Vijayan K. Asari in the University of Dayton Vision Lab, focusing on:
Low-SWaP Neuromorphic Event-Based Vision for Autonomous Mars Rotorcraft using BrainChip Akida Hardware.
The goal is to transition validated algorithms from simulation to deployable neuromorphic hardware, enabling real-time, energy-efficient autonomy for aerospace systems operating in GPS-denied environments such as Mars.

As AI models grow in size and complexity, efficiency is becoming just as critical as accuracy. One of the most powerful ways to get there is activation sparsity.
By exploiting the fact that only a fraction of neurons need to be active at any given time, you can dramatically reduce compute, memory access, energy consumption, and latency without sacrificing performance. For edge AI where power constraints are non-negotiable, this is a game changer 🔥
Not brute-force compute, but smarter, more biologically inspired efficiency. This is where AI acceleration is heading
