Lindian Resources entwickelt das große Seltene-Erden-Projekt Kangankunde in Malawi. Die erste Phase mit Tagebau und Aufbereitungsanlage ist finanziert und soll Ende 2026 starten, mit einer Jahresproduktion von ca. 15.300 Tonnen hochwertigem Monazit-Konzentrat. Das Projekt hat eine Lebensdauer von 45 Jahren und eine geplante zweite Phase zur deutlichen Produktionssteigerung. Lindian arbeitet mit Iluka Resources zusammen, die einen Baukredit von 20 Mio. USD stellen und einen 15-Jahres-Abnahmevertrag für das Konzentrat haben. Kangankunde gilt als kosteneffizient und technisch wenig riskant mit geringer Radioaktivität im Endprodukt.
