Nvidia, IBD Stock Of The Day, Looks To Finally Score China Sales PATRICK SEITZ 04:57 PM ET 01/23/2026 Nvidia (NVDA) is the IBD Stock Of The Day as signs point to the AI chipmaker finally regaining access to the China market. Nvidia stock rose 1.5% to close at 187.67 on the stock market today after Bloomberg reported that Chinese regulators are close to formally approving imports of Nvidia AI accelerators. Chinese officials have told the country's largest tech firms including Alibaba (BABA) and Tencent (TCEHY) that they can prepare orders for Nvidia's H200 AI chips, Bloomberg said. The Trump administration earlier cleared the way for Nvidia to resume sales of AI processors to China, though not its latest chips. Previously Nvidia was barred from selling its chips there on national security grounds. In other news, Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang reportedly plans to visit China later this month. Huang plans to attend company events ahead of Lunar New Year holidays and is expected to travel to Beijing, though it's unclear whether he will meet with senior Chinese authorities, Bloomberg said. Huang has said it is critical for U.S. chipmakers to gain access to the China market to control the future of artificial intelligence technology. Meanwhile, Nvidia stock is attempting to clear a nearly three-month downward trendline.
