Incredible amount of battery projects launched in China in Q1 for both automotive & ESS chu21.com/html/chunengy-…
26 projects costing 196B RMB for 805GWh of production:
- Largest investor was CATL w/ 179 GWh from 4 projects
- Eve Battery w/ 156 GWh from 4 projects amounting to 42.1B investment
- BYD w/ FAW JVs/Fudi subsidiary started 5 projects for at least 150 GWh
This is just the final product. I will add another one for supply chain investment later
imo, Chinese battery industry is making expansion plans on the assumption that half of the global new auto sales will be NEVs in another 3 to 4 years + significant jump in ESS needs
Since there is no comparable effort anywhere in the world, they should have significant cost & scale advantages
