<Research Report>Daiwa Expects BYD to Sell 300K NEVs Monthly for Rest of 2023; Catalytic to Shr Price Daiwa noted in a report that BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) reported 2Q23 net profit of RMB6.8 billion, up 145% YoY, in line with its earlier guidance. Gross profit margin reached 18.7%, up 4.3 ppts YoY and 0.8 ppts QoQ. The QoQ improvement in gross margin could be attributed to the decline in lithium carbonate price and the absence of subsidy compensation during the quarter. Daiwa maintained its forecast of BYD's annual NEV sales at 2.9 million units, and expected monthly sales to reach 300,000 units by the end of the year, which would be an important catalyst for the stock price. The broker is also bullish on BYD's overseas development, which is likely to be a key driver of the company's long-term growth. The broker expected BYD's overseas sales to reach 200,000, 400,000 and 600,000 units respectively in 2023/24/25. Daiwa also maintained its Buy rating on BYD.
