Great Wall Motor Nine-Month Net Profit Falls 60.1% On Higher Promotional Expenses

HONG KONG (Oct 26) -- Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor Company said Thursday its net profit for the nine-month period ended Sep. 30 slumped 60.1%, due to higher promotional expenses for existing and new products, brand promotion and increase in research and development costs.
Net profit for the reported period was 2.88 billion yuan ($433.91 million) as compared with 7.21 billion yuan a year earlier, the company said in an exchange filing. Revenue was broadly flat at 63.43 billion yuan.
