US private payrolls rise by 233K in October - ADP The number of jobs in the private sector in the United States rose by 233,000 in October, it was shown in the ADP National Employment Report published on Wednesday. The figure came in well above analyst expectations and up from September's revised number of 159,000. "Even amid hurricane recovery, job growth was strong in October," Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP commented. "As we round out the year, hiring in the US is proving to be robust and broadly resilient." Large and medium companies added 140,000 and 86,000 jobs, respectively. Jobs in small businesses increased by 8,000. The number of jobs in the service sector surged by 211,000, most of which came from education/health services, and the number of jobs in the good-producing sector was up by 22,000, most coming from construction.
