NEV transition is rapidly increasing in commercial vehicle sector also
In Q1, China had over 12k NEV light truck sales
In March alone, China had 6832 such sales
Geely commercial vehicle led the way w/ 26% mkt share followed by Dongfeng & Yutong
BYD finally cracked top 10 in Mar w/ 153 T5DM & 129 T5EV, but it is still quite small
It does also support the 4th largest player here Landking (which is Weichai)
China had 46.8K NEV light truck sales & 1.33m ICE light truck sales in all of 2023
We are certainly ahead of last yr's pace by quite a bit if we maintain March's pace
Each Light truck require abt 100kWh battery pack, so de-carbonizing this vehicle segment is quite important
also, BYD needs to step up its sales effort. < 300/month is quite paltry

Tesla 4680 battery flop is a big reason $TSLA Head of Battery was fired. Tesla now has to buy MORE batteries from China’s BYD and CATL and is pressing lawmakers to ease restrictions on the $7500 taxpayer funded federal tax credit without which Tesla will soon be bankrupt.
