Disney: Q1 revenue at $16.25B, down 22% YoY
The Walt Disney Company reported on Thursday that its revenue totaled $16.25 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2021, decreasing by 22% in comparison to the same timespan the previous year.
Net income from continuing operations amounted to $29 million in the three months ending with January 2, 2021, plunging 99% from the corresponding trimester last year. The company's diluted earnings per share from continuing operations (EPS) stood at $0.02, down 98% compared to the first quarter of 2020.
The number of Disney paid subscribers rose to 94.9 million in the first three month period, compared to 26.5 million a year ago. ESPN users jumped 83% to 12.1 million, while Hulu subscriptions grew 30% to 39.4 million.
