For many years, Apple held that role due to steady demand for iPhone and Mac chips, but now rising AI demand is changing who drives factory use and spending across the sector. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang confirmed the change on a recent podcast and said, “Morris (referring to Morris Chang, TSMC’s founder) will be happy to know Nvidia is TSMC’s largest customer now,” which points to how fast the balance has shifted. Analyst Ben Bajarin estimates Nvidia could generate about $33 billion of TSMC revenue this year, or around 22% of total sales, while Apple is projected at about $27 billion, or close to 18%. As a result, Nvidia is now seen as the key growth engine for the foundry, even though Apple remains a major and stable buyer. This change highlights how AI demand is reshaping long-held industry roles. Why AI Chips Carry More Weight The shift is largely tied to the nature of AI chips, which are larger and more costly to produce than phone chips. As a result, each unit generates more revenue for TSMC and consumes more factory space. In its latest results, TSMC said high-performance computing, which includes Nvidia chips, made up 55% of revenue, up from 40% in 2022. High performance computing now represents the largest share of TSMC revenue, reflecting the rising role of Nvidia as its top customer. At the same time, TSMC leadership said demand signals from cloud firms remain strong, which supports further growth. “Our conviction in the multi-year AI mega trend remains strong,” CEO C.C. Wei said on the earnings call. Still, Wei also noted the risk of heavy spending and added, “I’m also very nervous about it,” which reflects the careful balance between growth and cost as AI demand keeps rising.

Ja das finde ich schade ich weiß nicht warum du hier machst es sein du hast wenig Zeit dann kann man ja das machen aber Hebel macht man immer kurzfristig für ein paar Minuten oder 3 Stunden oder ich mich. Ich hab auch sehr viel Geld verloren und hebe deswegen Trau ich mir nicht.
